A student wife

I want to be a student wife
--the college kind--
for all my life.

My professor chosen carefully
I'll learn from Him all I can,
then make those most choice words part of me
part of who I am

I won't be jealous of other students
who have captured most concepts more cushily.
But rather admire and cheer them on,
for who knows the trials they have to face
and their level of difficulty?

The price I pay for learning seems
more expensive every single year!
Then I stop and think, oh self
Graduation day and that reward will be much,
oh much more dear.

So why a student WIFE? you ask
in a pensive tone.
Well, my reply, a simple one:
Graduation's a happy day, quite happy on it's own,
but just as in life, with student husband by my side,
It's much happier then being alone.

I never write poetry.  So sorry if I didn't do it right. ha ha!  I just couldn't stop thinking of the blessing of going to school with my husband.  Today we rode to the University together, crossed paths in the computer lab (we kissed goodbye so that others couldn't see because, kissing is a little awkward in the computer lab), and I am going to pick him up from school and send him off to work in just a little bit.

So why in the world do I love going to school with Justin?  I think it is incredibly neat that we are both working so hard for graduation (we both plan graduating at the same time by the way! yeah!) and putting forth that effort. We both get to talk about these incredible things that we are learning, we grow from it, and then at the end of the year, we have both changed, but we both worked hard to make those changes happen, and it is AMAZING! We grew together, but in different and individual ways.

I started to think how much I love this pattern: this pattern of learning and changing, and then it dawned on me- it is a wonderful pattern for life.  We don't have monetary tuition, but there are other prices we pay to graduate from this life.   We have control of our schedules and we can either choose God or Mammon.  We either enjoy the journey, or we just muddle through what we think is busy work, and get nothing out of it.  So I truly want to be a student wife.  I want to continuously work, and learn from the words of prophets, and change- and be able to share those experiences with my husband, and see the same in him.  Cool huh?  ha ha. Also random, but hey, I have been reading a LOT of philosophy for school so my creativity is just bursting with brilliantness :)
