Better than cake and ice cream

My sister-in-law summed it up for me.  This was so much better than Cake and Ice cream.  For my birthday I did 24 acts of kindness for others and invited friends and family to join in.  I felt so humbled and happy as I did my little cositas, my little acts of kindness, but the most incredible and touching part was to receive text messages, and emails, and Facebook posts of things people did as well, that, to me, seemed even more incredible than my little 24.  Is this not Zion?  All of us working together to do good in this world that is constantly getting more evil.  I LOVED IT!!!!!!  So here are my 24 and those of others.  I will add on as they come in :).

1.Got Breakfast ready for my husband who needed to leave to work early
2. Read the Book of Mormon to him as he ate (WE FINISHED IT THAT DAY!!!)
3.Prayed for my friends mother who has not been feeling well
4. Typed up my friends blessing that was given to her baby
5.Joined a Family website to keep in touch with 6 generations of Jacksons!
6. Gave a 5 dollar gift card to the cashier at Walmart, and told her to give it to someone that day (Her face touched my heart-I want to do this one every year)
7.Gave my shopping cart to someone that needed it coming in
8. Left a note and treat for the mail man

9. Took out the garbage
10. Gave a thank you note to my yoga instructor
11.  Wrote a thank you note for my educational advisor
12.  Handed out candy on the aggie bus on the way to class and headed home

13. Made 5 quarters really accessible on a vending machine :)

14. Gave a new friend a ride home
15. Took cookies around to my good friends and neighbors

16. Left a surprise congratulations for a friend recently expecting a new baby!!
17. Justin and I went to the temple and did marriage sealings

18. Gave perfume to Emma and some red good looking shoes to Melanie (my little sister-in-laws :)

19. Texted an old friend that I haven't talked to in a while
20. Had a delightful conversation with one of my aunts.  (An incredible lady....really)
21. Left 5 quarters at a laundry mat with a note letting them know it was okay to use them
22. Made a grilled tuna fish sandwich for my father-in-law
23. Let someone know that I thought they were great
24. Scratched Justin's back as he fell asleep

Rachel: Happy Birthday Camille. It is pretty crazy the day you put up your invitaion to do a service a girl in our ward came around and she was doing a service project of gathering pillowcases for the kids and teens at primary childrens hospital. so today in honor of you we delivered hand made pillow cases that can be donated to primary childrens. I hope you have a great day and I would love to hear all your acts of love that you were involved in. What a fun idea.

Elise: Went and spoke in ward- gave her testimony

Mike and Shannon: For our service, we got a bunch of things together for our friends that the husband has terminal brain cancer. They are having a boutique in st. George to raise money to pay for medical expenses.

Laurie: Cami, for your birthday I made a card and wrote an encouraging message for a friend at work who is going through a really hard time.

It is incredible how much little acts of service can make your whole day!  Crazy that so often we get caught up in our daily lives, we don't even realize how much we serve everyday, or if we do realize it, we just see it as a task to do instead of a blessing.  Thank you so much everyone who made this the best birthday ever!!  You can either post, or I will add them as you send them to me. :)

So glad to hear that you had a great birthday! I loved this idea, and I was glad you shared it with me. ^_^

For my act of service, I printed out my friend's paper and turned it in for her so that she could attend her niece's school play in SLC.

I love this. I love reading through these things people did and realizing normal, every day things really are acts of kindness. In reality, thoughts of kindness are great too... A compliment, an offer to help even if it isn't accepted, a little prayer for someone... Pretty great.

Today I read through your WHOLE blog and sent up a little thankful prayer for my blessings and reminders I got from you of how good my life is.
