"Rather than being judgmental and critical of each other, may we have the pure love of Christ for our fellow travelers in this journey through life." -Thomas S. Monson (Charity Never Faileth)
As you read your articles on facebook- about Justin Beiber getting punched in the face, or what the perfect mom should do, or even what the happy, rich, and emotionally stable person does, please remember that charity never faileth.
We all see the world so differently. I know some of the things I post on this blog are not always liked, can be read in many different ways, and taken in the wrong way. I do know however that I am continually learning and expanding my understanding of myself and others. So yes, my final word is never my final word because tomorrow I might come to understand something (like grieving) in a different way than I thought before.
Thomas S. Monson said "None of us
is perfect. I know of no one who would profess to be so. And yet for
some reason, despite our own imperfections, we have a tendency to point
out those of others. We make judgments concerning their actions or
inactions. There is
really no way we can know the heart, the intentions, or the
circumstances of someone who might say or do something we find reason to
criticize. Thus the commandment: “Judge not.”
The world teaches us today to be CRITICAL. To analyze, pick apart, and interpret text, music, and sometimes even each other. I think it's time to stop being critical, and start being curious. Instead of judging, maybe we will seek out the reason behind the madness, and if not, then let's pray for those people. I doubt that when we stand in front of the Lord, that he will be proud of our ability to be critical but rather our ability to be charitable. The latter is so hard, that you have to pray with all the energy of your soul for it. To be critical on the other hand is easy, fast, and fleeting. What one man criticizes today will be criticized in a different way tomorrow. But charity never faileth.
